At the Northern Voice blogging conference, I caught up with an old university friend, Aidan, who told me about his new ebook, SEO Quick Fix. As someone more experienced with online human interaction than search optimization, I was curious to learn more.
The ebook is very straightforward, but you need to have a basic understanding of HTML before considering it. He presents his book in a check-list format, explaining the 20 steps to optimize your site – from re-writing page titles to eliminating keyword spam. It’s selling for $25, but before March 11th, Techvibes readers can grab it for free. You can, too.
I’ve seen posts by social media purists saying that, with proper social media interaction, you shouldn’t need SEO or that it is somehow cheating the system. I think there is a place for both. Organizations should maximize their findability through optimizing their site for human and machine consumption.
Sure, you can research all this information on your own or even pick up a few tips from Aidan’s site, SEO Remedy, for free, but for a layperson seeking a literal quick fix, this ebook may be it.

Ah, it’s refreshing to hear more people making the connection between people and search engine robots. After all, search engined engineers are trying their best to make the wants of their bots resemble the wants of people.
Some get obsessed with it and forget that the goal of any site is to bring people, not machines.
